Double Degree with La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy
The Korean Department has developed Double Degree Program with Italian Institute of Oriental Studies of La Sapienza University of Rome. Student would develop diversity of thinking, international priorities and a truly global mindset. This program aims at cultivating insightful experts on Korea in the age of globalization.
The two partner institutions approved the text of the agreement aiming at the establishment of a Double degree in Korean and Chinese curriculum.
Student admission is separately conducted by each institution. Student from Hanyang University must have B.A degrees in various majors and entered to GSIS for studying area study. Level 4 certificate or above from TOPIK or HSK level 5 or English proficiency tests: IBT TOEFL 85, CBT TOEFL 213, TOEIC 750, TOEIC SPEAKING 130 or IELTS 6.5.
Student participating to Double Degree program must spend at least 2 semesters in another university in order to obtain final degree from awarding institutions
Tuition Fee and Reciprocity
Registration and tuition fees will be paid to the home institution and be exempted by the host institution which will guarantee a fee waiver upon condition of reciprocity.
Students will obtain a double degree from Sapienza University of Rome and from the Hanyang GSIS Participating in the program. These degrees are recognized in Europe as research masters degree allowing the student to start a Ph.D. program. The name of titles released by universities is as for Sapienza University Of Rome“Dottore magistrale in lingue e civiltà orientali”and as for the Hanyang GSIS “Master of international studies (Majored in Korean Studies) and “Master of International Studies (Majored in Chinese Studies).
The discussion of the thesis and Comprehensive Examination will take place at the home university in the presence, if possible, of the co-tutor from the host university. In case the co-tutor is not able to attend, he or she will have to provide a written evaluation not later than 10 days prior to the exam date.
the academic year at Sapienza University of Rome starts on the Octorber and ends July each year and the two semestets will be organized as far as the duration and the teaching activities are concerned according to the regulations and procedures of each of the partnet university or research institutions.
The academic year at Graduate School of International Studies of Hanyang University starts on the September and ends June, and the two semesters will be organized as far as the duration and the teaching activities are concerned according to the regulations and procedures of each of the partner universities or research institutions.
