|When I decided to do my PhD, I had two (2) very important criteria in choosing the most suitable university for me. These criteria include reasonableness and flexibility of the program and the amount and kind of support I can get from the staffs and professors. My first meeting with Prof. Kim Youen, the head of the Korean Studies program of GSIS, Hanyang University, impressed me greatly for he did not only explain the program really well but also explained it with utmost gesture. This gave me an impression that the program met my two criteria. I am now in my terminal year of my PhD, writing my dissertation. I can attest that indeed the impression I got from the very beginning lasted until now and surely incessantly. The program gave me freedom to discover my abilities and the professors have been very helpful in my growth. The years that I have spent at the program allowed me to cultivate my talents and allowed me to explore countless possibilities. The support Prof. Kim has been giving to all the students of the program, including myself, is invaluable. I cannot complain. The program just left me with great memories and academic developments that I will be forever indebted. Like me, anyone can realize his or her future through the Korean Studies program offered at GSIS-Hanyang University.
